Amazing! We have so many tools at our fingertips every day. We know what we have, get comfortable with what we use, and we “stay there”. Whether it works for us or not! We’d many times fight with our existing tools over changing to a better, more modern, more capable toolkit.
Just this week, I experienced this frustration – I am an avid “note taker” during the day on my laptop, so I utilize notepad. How many times have I lost a note when the system shutdown unexpectedly? How many times did I save OVER untitled, only to find I lost other info I needed? But yet, that is the “easy” way to take notes!
As a salesperson, VERY detrimental. What DID we talk about?
But late Friday that all changed. After not being able to find info quickly during a 3 person telecon on Thursday, I became the person who seemed to be “lost”. I wasn’t lost, my notes were! Somewhere within 19 notepad entries all over my desktop for the day, I had to hunt through quickly for the info, and could not find it fast enough, so to others I appeared to be “lost”. EMBARRASSING!
Solution: Microsoft Office ONE NOTE!!! What an awesome tool and most likely on your system right now with Office 2007.
Type in notes within one click (or Windows N key sequence) of the application from the desktop shortcut, enter your quick note and it saves whether you remember to or not! Later you can organize those notes into various folders, capture a graphic from the screen (Windows S key sequence), grab a photo portion, so many things in a simple tool! Or simply delete as an unneeded note. But YOU can decide later. No “save as”, naming, filing location, etc. It saves as you go! You simply close it and move on.
Check it out!!!! Microsoft ONE NOTE will also schedule a task or appointment into Outlook if you wish. Off to read more of the tutorial on this great new tool…. Imagine how powerful I can be if I know how to use it even better.
P.S. I’m typing this into ONE NOTE as I don’t want to lose the thought later and now I know I won’t!
